A doctoral studentship will provide:

  • An annual bursary (£16,000 in 2021/22).
  • Students from the United Kingdom and the European Union pay the full tuition charge. International candidates are encouraged to apply, but they must make sufficient plans to cover the difference between the international and domestic tuition fees.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applications are accepted from around the world.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Studentships are awarded in the subjects offered by the university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must have to meet the following criteria:
  • Hold an excellent honors degree in a relevant field (usually no less than a second class honors degree or comparable certification). If the first degree is in a different subject area, a university may consider applications from persons who have an excellent Master’s Degree in a relevant field or considerable practical experience in the proposed research area.

  • If English is not your first language, you must present proof of English language competency (minimum average score of 6.5 IELTS, with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the four components).
