Odonna Christian Ogbonna Chiwetalu Agu (born March 5, 1956), better known by his stage name Chiwetalu Agu, is a Nigerian Nollywood industry luminary and icon.

He is a television personality, comedian, and veteran Nollywood Nigerian actor.

One character who has established a distinct place for themselves on-screen is him. Based on his performances in Nollywood films, Chiwetalu Agu’s slang is a jest, despite the fact that it is both offensive and amusing.

Childhood and Education

Christian Ogbonna Chiwetalu Agu is a comedian and veteran Nollywood actor. His cinematic vernacular and command of the Igbo dialect have earned him widespread recognition.

On March 5th, 1956, he was born in Enugu, Nigeria. He is currently alive.

Chiwetalu Agu completed his primary education at Saint Luke’s Primary School, Ogui, and Municipal Council School, Ogui.

For his secondary education, he enrolled at the College of Immaculate Conception, Uwani, where he successfully completed his WASSCE examination in 1977.

A Bachelor of Dramatic Arts degree was conferred upon him by Munchen College, Germany, in 1981.

Chiwetalu Agu, akin to numerous other actors, embarked on the development of his talent during his formative years. He completed the mandatory year of national service in Jos.

He organized a multitude of performances with the Inspirers Theatre Group, which he established in 1983, following his military service. Following his employment at NTA, Enugu, he commenced a full-time acting career.

Numerous films, including Things Fall Apart, the renowned novel authored by the late great Chinua Achebe, Sunrise, and Old School, have featured Chiwetalu Agu.

He has collaborated with numerous celebrities, including Ireti Doyle, Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, more commonly referred to as Mama G, and numerous others.

On account of his expertise and professionalism, Professor Femi Shaka of the University of Port Harcourt acknowledged him as the progenitor of Nollywood.

Additionally, Chiwetalu Agu has received accolades such as Best Actor in an Indigenous Film. He won that award and several others for his performance of the Igbo dialect in the film Nkwocha.

Who is Chiwetalu Agu Wife?

Nkechi Agu is the spouse of Chiwetalu Agu. There are two daughters and three sons among their five offspring. The names of two of his sons are Christian Agu and Emeka Agu, whereas the identities of his daughters remain unknown.

Amokwe, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria, is his place of origin.
