Sunday Internationally recognized as King Sunny Adé, Adeniyi Adegeye MFR (born 22 September 1946) is a jùjĺ vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Nigeria.

He has been lauded as one of the most influential musicians of all time and is considered one of the pioneering African musical artists to achieve global recognition.

In 1967, King Sunny Adé established his own support group, which he ultimately dubbed his African Beats.

Following the attainment of nationwide acclaim in Nigeria throughout the 1970s, Sunny Alade established an autonomous record label.

Childhood and Education

Born in Osogbo to a Nigerian royal family originating from Ondo and Akure, King Sunny Adé was designated an Omoba of the Yoruba people.

His father, Samuel Adeniyi Adegeye, was an accomplished church organist, and his mother, Maria Adegeye (née Adesida), was engaged in commerce. He was born on September 22, 1946.
