She is a well-known businesswoman, television personality, and actress from Nigeria.

Childhood and Education
Mercy Johnson Okojie is a native of Chogi State’s Okene. She belongs to the Okene people of Kogi, Nigeria.
She was born in Lagos State on August 28, 1984, to former naval officer parents, Mr. Daniel Johnson and Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson.
She is the fourth of seven children in her family. Her primary education commenced in Calabar, which is located in the state of Cross River. Her father, who held the rank of naval officer, was subsequently relocated to Lagos State, where she attended a Nigerian Navy Primary School to further her education.
Mercy Johnson completed her secondary education not only at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but also at a Rivers State secondary school.
How Mercy Johnson Began her Acting Career
After completing her secondary education, Mercy Johnson appeared in several films, including Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War in the Palace, and subsequently auditioned for the role of The Maid.
Her performances in the films “Live to Remember” and “Dumebi the Dirty Girl” earned her the 2009 African Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress and the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Actress, respectively.
She maintained the title of the most-searched Nigerian celebrity on Google from December 2011 to December 2012. She serves as the governor of Kogi state’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for entertainment, arts, and culture. This post became effective on April 1, 2017.
On November 3, 2013, Mercy Johnson was once prohibited from acting for being too expensive. The film producers of Nollywood issued a threat to ban her from the industry on account of her stringent requirements.
Acting was reportedly prohibited for her and co-Nollywood stars Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Emeka Ike, Ramsey Nouah, Nkem Owoh, Stella Damasus, and Jim Iyke on the grounds that they demanded exorbitant salary increases per film.
However, on March 9, 2014, marketers and producers withdrew the ban in response to the actress’s apology.
Her film producing debut was titled The Legend of Inikpi.
