Yemi Solade spent his formative years in Lagos State, specifically in the vicinity of Ogunlana Drive and Adeniran Ogunsanya.

Solade began his acting career at the age of 17, during Festac 77, an arts and culture festival conducted in 1977.

During his youth in Surulere, he won three consecutive dance championships in Lagos State and represented Africa in international dance competitions held in Spain.

He debuted on stage as a passenger and driver in the 45-minute monologue Crazy Youngie, in which he performed his debut.

Yemi Solade held faculty positions at several universities and polytechnics, including the University of Maiduguri, Kaduna Polytechnic, and Ramat Polytechnic, subsequent to his academic completion.
